Chasing Waterfalls: Tinago Falls


Do you want a refreshing and yet extreme adventure? Come visit the famous Tinago Falls in Iligan City. Tinago Falls is curtain-like waterfall that the water flows down through the widespread limestone wall. The water flows in every side of the cliff.

What to expect

Tinago falls is a waterfall located in Iligan City, in the province of Lanao Del Norte in Northern Mindanao. It is also one of the main tourist attractions in Iligan City aside from the famous Maria Cristina Falls.

Tinago falls is can be find in between Barangay Ditucalan, Iligan City and Barangay Purakan of Linamon town. The name is derive from a Filipino word “Tinago” which means “hidden”, because the falls is hidden in a deep ravine that is accessible only via a 500-steps descending cemented winding staircase.

The water is coming from the outflows of Lanao Lake through the Agus river that separates into two channels as it flows to Iligan Bay. One stream flows over the Maria Cristina Falls while the other flows to Tinago Falls. The water plunges from a 240 feet high cliff. The very cold waters cascading beautifully into a deep blue-green colored basin-like pool. A small cave under the falls where tourist can enter and listen the rumbling waters.

This famous tourist attraction in Iligan City is part of the Ecotourism program of Department of Tourism in Iligan City. This place is co-managed by the local government of Iligan City and Linamon town.
