Chasing Waterfalls: Maria Cristina Falls in Iligan City

Maria Cristina Falls is one of the grandest waterfalls in the Philippines. It is one of the main attraction or landmarks in Iligan City in Northern Mindanao. Iligan City is popularly known as “City of Majestic Waterfalls”. The height is approximately 320 meters and spews 130 cubic meter of water per second and it is the second highest waterfalls in the Philippines. This also referred as a “twin falls” because of a rock at the brink that separated the flow of water.

It is inside the premises of National Power Corporation Nature’s Park. This majestic waterfalls powers the Agus VI Hydroelectric Power Plant. It is the primary source of power in the entire province and other parts of Northern Mindanao.

This waterfall is famous in the Philippines because it is being discuss in most of the textbooks use in elementary education as one of bodies of water in the Philippines. Also feature in postcards. I can only see this majestic waterfalls only in textbooks and postcards. I am fascinate and being amaze by its beauty.

When I got the chance to see in my naked eye this majestic and grandest waterfall; I am amaze and fascinate by the fact that I can see it personally. You can feel and hear how strong this creation of nature by the sound of the water dropped from the brink and wind it creates from the bottom of the waterfall to the surroundings.
